Entoto Natural Park
Entoto Natural Park is a park of serenity and resounding joy. It’s a unique place to discover the most breathtaking ancient mountain nature with streams flowing from clear springs and waterfalls. The park lies on the south-eastern slopes of Entoto Mountain, between the northern limit of the city of Addis Ababa at an altitude of 2,600 m and the track along the mountain ridge at altitude over 3,100m
Unity Park
Established in 2019, the park is located at the Grand Palace in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, a compound that has been a seat of state for more than a century.
The total land coverage of the grand palace is 40 acres and it contains myriads of historical buildings and plants that date back to the time of Emperor Menelik II, the founder of the Grand Palace.
Kuriftu Water Park
Kuriftu Resort and Spa located in Ethiopia in Bishoftu, some 60 kilometres from the capital Addis Ababa. The park, which has water playgrounds, swimming pools, 123 shops and three banks, is the first of its kind in East Africa. Built on 72,000 square meters of land, the park created jobs for 1,000 unemployed youth. The park will have its own contribution for the growth of the country’s tourism industry.
Traditional Food
Ethiopia has a rich and unexpected food culture. And more than just great meals, this is food that comes with a story. At the heart of every Ethiopian meal is injera. Basically is like pancake that made from tef, a sour-wheat-like grain that is mixed with cool water and a pinch of yeast.
But unlike a pancake, it isn’t flipped over, so the topside remains spongy, the better to sop up the vegetables and meat in the sauce like wat (sometimes spelled wot or wett) that is ladled on top.
Coffee Ceremony
Sooner rather than later you will be invited for a coffee ceremony. Coffee originated from the Kaffa region in western Ethiopia. Today it is a big contributor to the economy. Ethiopians are proud coffee consumers, it takes some time to prepare though. The fresh beans are washed and roasted over an charcoal fire. While grinding the beans in a mortar, water is boiled and a first cup of coffee (usually taken with a lot of sugar) is prepared.
Great Ethiopian Run
Great Ethiopian Run, Founded by Haile Gebreselassie, the greatest distance runner of all time and a national hero, it’s a 10km race through the heart of this bustling, fascinating city.
It is a must do event in the running calendar. The 10k event is the biggest running event in Africa with more than 37,000 participants, 500 elite runners and several hundred runners from overseas. Hosting this event annually in November 2016, it is colorful and chaotic, and there is no better way to see the capital Addis Ababa.
